Barcelona photos

Gitte and I just spent a week in Barcelona in early June. It's the first time there for both of us and we were very impressed with the city.

We stayed in an area called Selva Del Mar which is about 5-10 minutes by metro from the city centre. The advantage of this was that we were only 3 minutes walk from the beach but it was also very convenient for the city without the claustrophobic feeling associated with staying right in the centre.

Of course the main sights are the famous La Rambla, the long pedestrian street full of street performers and tourist shops which is very average to be honest, and the Gaudi architecture spread around the city. The old town off from La Rambla is by far the best to explore with small shady streets full of Tapas bars, small boutiques and bars.

We spent quite a few evenings in the El Born district, next to the Barceloneta and Jaume 1 metro stops. This area has masses of good places to eat and drink and was full of life in the evenings. Also a great place to just sit and watch the world go by on a warm summer evening.
